Sun shines for Soul Junction – Mains Farm Music Festival

Soul Junction performed at their third festival in the Summer of Soul. We had been invited to play this two day festival along with other local bands at Mains Farm, Kirkoswald. We were scheduled to appear on Sunday evening and as we prepared for our two hour set, we watched the rain fall all morning and into the afternoon.

The large audience of music fans had already enjoyed a wide range of offerings from bands and we were looking forward to taking the stage at this stunning venue. The organisation of the event had been first-class and as we waited in the ‘green room’ we saw the rain stop and the clouds blow away to reveal a blue sky and warm sunshine. Someone was looking after us!

Once on stage Soul Junction kicked off with ‘Midnight Hour’ and, very aptly, ‘Heatwave’. The next two hours were a brilliant experience, playing to an appreciative crowd that sang along with us and danced the night away. The stage, lighting and superb sound mixing took our performance to another level and the festival-goers joined us in this fantastic night of soul music. Definitely one of our best gigs and an experience never to forget. Many thanks to the Pickthall family for organising this event and inviting us to participate.
