Part of the build-up to a gig is to visit the venue if we haven't played there before. Usually this involves things like checking the size of the playing area, deciding what gear will be needed and access for vehicles. All that went out of the window recently when we dropped into the Cumberland Bird of Prey Centre to chat about a very unusual and special 'festival' wedding that we'd been booked to play.
It's an amazing place and the inhabitants are surprisingly friendly, even though they do have rather large beaks and claws! Gary treated us to a rare opportunity - the chance to fly some of the birds, including a Caracara from the Falklands and a selection of owls. We also met a wedding owl, specially trained to deliver wedding rings.
Now we just need a beefy team of trained eagles to fly our heavy equipment!
