Christmas Party 2018

The Soul Junction Christmas Party is a bit of a secret treat .... it is not widely advertised and has become a new tradition for soul lovers in Penrith. This year’s party sold out months before the night, and we had a constant stream of people begging us for tickets right up to gig night!

Most of our audience were local people who have supported SJ through the year, but there were some who had come along for the first time and some who had travelled a long distance to see us, including soul fans from Devon and Dorset.

We played a record 48 songs, including all our 2018 festival favourites and some cracking new Motown dance numbers. The dancers were on the floor from the first note of ‘Midnight Hour’ to the last chord of ‘Hold on I’m coming’. Soulaoke featured again, with the lovely Katrina Preston leading a team of guest soul singers, and we gave out loads of our new SJ backing singer and dancer badges. Bill managed to look good in  a Viking helmet, rapping, and playing a light-up bass guitar, and the rest of us disguised ourselves in an only slightly less impressive way.

We’ve had an amazing time since we first got together in summer 2016 and have been playing pretty much non-stop at festivals, parties, clubs, pubs, pop-ups and weddings. You’ll have noticed from watching us perform that we all get on well with each other and have a great time with our music, and we hope you love it as much as we do.

Thank you for all your support, and let’s keep dancing in 2019.... we’ve got some very special events in store for you, starting with New Year’s Eve at the Back Bar, Inn on the Square, Keswick.

Happy Christmas and all the best for 2019 from Tony, Rebekah, Jon, Nick, Chris, Clare and Bill! xxxxxx
